Monetary Thresholds and Administrative Fines Stipulated in Consumer Protection Legislation Have Been Increased

Pursuant to the Communiqué on the Increase of the Monetary Thresholds in Article 68 of the Consumer Protection Law numbered 6502 and Article 6 of the Regulation on Consumer Arbitration Tribunals and the Communiqué on the Administrative Fines to be Imposed in 2024 Pursuant to Article 77 of the Consumer Protection Law numbered 6502 published in the Official Gazette dated 20.12.2023 and numbered 32405, the monetary thresholds and administrative fines set forth in the Consumer Protection Law numbered 6502 (“Law”) and the relevant legislation have been increased by %58,46 for the year 2024. Both communiqués will become applicable as of January 1st, 2024.

Accordingly;

  • Regarding applications to consumer arbitration tribunals in 2024, provincial or district consumer arbitration tribunals will have jurisdiction for disputes with a value below TRY 104,000. Disputes exceeding  this value will be addressed in consumer courts.
  • Some noteworthy examples of the administrative fines to be imposed in 2024, in accordance with Article 77 of the Law, are outlined below:
