A new announcement has recently been made on the official website of the Data Protection Authority (www.kvkk.gov.tr) re. Decision No. 2019/265 of Personal Data Protection Board (“Board”) on “Extension of the commencement date and deadline for the registration to the Data Controllers Registry” which was published in the Official Gazette numbered 30881 and dated September 7, 2019 (“New Decision”).

As known, before the New Decision, the deadline determined for registration with the Data Controllers registry was September 30th, 2019 for real or legal person data controllers (i) whose annual employee number exceed 50 or annual financial balance sheet is higher than TRY 25 million, and (ii) who are located abroad.
Upon the requests received from sector representatives, the Board has decided to extend the commencement date and deadline for the fulfillment of registration requirement until December 31st, 2019.
